What is Mustard Seed?

Mustard Seed exists is to give Christians a spirit inspired, technological platform with one goal in mind: to make disciples of The Lord, Jesus Christ.

Mustard Seed employs God's inspired technology to overcome every force, including the negative influences of technology itself, that try to prevent us from successfully making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wouldn't you agree that, in today's social media culture, fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission requires a solution that is powerful enough to reach people where and when they need it most?

Mustard Seed innovations are designed to increase our ability to successfully hear God and apply His word to our day-to-day life. We do this through a revolutionary technology that employs a social media front end with a behavioral science backend. This allows users to get the specific step they need when they need it. Think: 'GPS' for seeking and walking with Jesus...Yes, really.

If 'No', no problem, but you will want to take these next steps very seriously. You just experienced one of the major roadblocks to making disciples: feeling hurried, overwhelmed and, perhaps, a bit skeptical of a new solution.

Mustard Seed was founded on what we call the 'Mark 4 Revelation'. Listen to what Jesus tells us in these verses:

"The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” (Note: to read the entire Mark 4 parable, go to 'Documents' at the top of the page').

The 'Mark 4 Revelation' is this: we have entered a time when we are not short on hearing the word of God, but, more than ever, the seeds of God's word are being lost. It doesn't matter if it is being lost on the footpath or in the thorns. Lost is lost.

Do you agree?

For example, do you know Christians who:

-Either can't remember or respond with complete indifference to a sermon, book or Bible study that they, at one time, found particularly powerful?

-Tell you that they are excited to grow in their relationship with Jesus, but, when you see them again, have lost all focus and motivation?

-Believe that they are being called by God, but can't seem to take that first step of faith to do something about it?

How much do you see the Mark 4 Revelation being played out in the lives of the Christians you know?

Another aspect of the Mark 4 Revelation is that, more than ever, we are being bombarded with information. This information is creating a thicker hardpan, making it increasingly easier for the word of God to be stolen from us before it can produce real (and measurable) results.

For instance, how often do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of information coming at you each day?

How important is it to hear God and His word? Listen, in Jesus own words, as he describes the wonderful benefits of successfully applying the word of God and the terrible cost awaiting those who don't:

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, AND DOES THEM, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and DOES NOT DO THEM, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall" (Matthew 7:24-27 emphasis is ours).

Jesus is telling us that there is a terrible cost to pay if we just read, listen and study his word and do not successfully apply it in our daily lives. He is holding us to a very clear standard: apply and do His word.

Of the Christians you know, how many do you believe are holding to Jesus' standard?

Unfortunately, in our battle to successfully uphold these standards, most of us know that we are losing.

Between the influences of the enemy, our own flesh and the ways of the world we are living in a day-to-day reality that is defined by its persistent, organized and systematic onslaught against our ability to hear God and apply His word in our lives and the lives of others...It's no wonder that the ability to make true disciples is so rare today!
