Summary: Investing in the fruit of love.

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Love?

Step 2

List the ambitions, dreams and goals you have for your life.

Write your answer in the space provided.

Step 3

Read Luke 18:31-33:

'Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”'

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 4

Go to 'DOCUMENTS' and read Oswald Chambers comments on Luke 18:31-33.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 5

Regarding our ambitions, dreams and goals, Oswald states:

‘...in the Christian life the goal is given at the beginning, and the end are the same, viz., our Lord Himself. We start with Christ and we end with Him ‘until we all attain to the same stature of manhood of Christ Jesus..., not simply to our own idea of what the Christian life should be."

How does this goal compare to your answer in Step 2? Be specific.

Step 6

Oswald continues:

'In our Lord’s life, Jerusalem was the place where He reached the culmination of His Father’s will upon the cross, and unless we go there with Jesus we will have no friendship or fellowship with Him.'

What is Jesus asking you to do that feels unfair, overwhelming, goes against all common sense, is the one thing you just don't want to do?

Write your answer in the space provided.

Step 7

Oswald states:

'Nothing ever diverted our Lord on His way to Jerusalem. He never hurried through certain villages where He was persecuted, or lingered in others where He was blessed. Neither gratitude nor ingratitude turned our Lord even the slightest degree away from His purpose to go “up to Jerusalem.”'

Regarding your answer in Step 6, how is what other people think of you, and what you think of yourself, working to divert you from doing what you have been asked to do?

Step 8

Oswald states:

'...the same things that happened to our Lord will happen to us on our way to our “Jerusalem.” There will be works of God exhibited through us, people will get blessed, and one or two will show gratitude while the rest will show total ingratitude, but nothing must divert us from going “up to [our] Jerusalem.”'.

How motivated are you to overcome those forces and circumstances that are working to divert you from doing the most difficult thing the Lord is asking of you?

Step 9

Oswald continues:

“...there they crucified Him...” (Luke 23:33). That is what happened when our Lord reached Jerusalem, and that event is the doorway to our salvation."

Regarding your resistance or anger to doing what God is asking of you, is there anything you would like to repent of?

If so, you can do so privately or in the space provided.

Step 10

Read Luke 22:41-43:

"…And He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He knelt down and prayed, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him..."

Imagine, for a moment, that you were there to hear Jesus pray this prayer to His Father.

Select 'Successful' when you have this image established in your mind.

Step 11

Now it's your turn to pray.

Like Jesus, take a moment now to talk to God about your 'Jerusalem'. Tell Him what you are going through...Is there anything you want Him to know or to ask of Him?

You can do so privately, or write in the space provided.

Step 12

Listen:

Allow yourself to get quiet and then ask God to respond to your prayer.

Write down what you receive in the space provided.

Step 13

Is there anything you would to thank Jesus for?

If so, you can do so privately or in the space provided.

Step 14

Oswald concludes:

'The saints, however, do not end in crucifixion; by the Lord’s grace they end in glory. In the meantime our watchword should be summed up by each of us saying, “I too go up to Jerusalem.’'

How important to you is it to 'go to your Jerusalem' (to do that one thing you do not want to do most) for the Lord, your God?

Step 15

Doing the 'one thing you do not want to do most' is not a one time event, but an ongoing process. For that reason, this Navitent is now in your library to schedule as often as you like.

After finishing this Navitent, are you interested in going to your Scheduler and scheduling this Navitent again?

Step 16
