Summary: Investing In The Fruit Of Love

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Love?

Step 2

In all sincerity, how often do you find yourself feeling undervalued and unworthy of being truly loved?

Step 3

What are the specific circumstances (including ways you have been mistreated, big mistakes you have made, sins, etc.) that make you feel especially unworthy of being deeply loved and valued?

If you wish, you can write your response in the space provided.

Step 4

Go to 'DOCUMENTS' above and read Oswald Chambers comments on the role belief plays in your sense of being valued and loved.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 5

Oswald begins by asking:

-"Do you have even the slightest reliance on anything or anyone other than God?"
-"Is there a remnant of reliance left on any natural quality within you, or on any particular set of circumstances?"
-"Are you relying on yourself in any manner whatsoever regarding this new proposal or plan which God has placed before you?"

Stop and take a moment to think about these questions.

When you are ready, write down your answers in the space provided.

Step 6

Oswald continues:

"It really is true to say, “I cannot live a holy life,” but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy. “You cannot serve the Lord...”— but you can place yourself in the proper position where God’s almighty power will flow through you."

Do you agree that God wants to and can work through you?

Step 7

Oswald then asks:

"Is your relationship with God sufficient for you to expect Him to exhibit His wonderful life in you?"

How you would answer that question?

Step 8

Oswald observes:

"We tend to say, “But God could never have called me to this. I’m too unworthy. It can’t mean me.”

How often do you find yourself having thoughts along these lines?

Step 9

Oswald states:

"It does mean you, and the more weak and feeble you are, the better. The person who is still relying and trusting in anything within himself is the last person to even come close to saying, “I will serve the Lord.”

How much does this truth change the way you look at your value, your sense of worth?

Step 10

Oswald continues:

"We say, “Oh, if only I really could believe!” The question is, “Will I believe?” No wonder Jesus Christ placed such emphasis on the sin of unbelief. “He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief” (Matthew 13:58)."

Regarding your unbelief of God’s ability to work through your weaknesses, is there anything you would like to repent of (express your sorrow)?

If so, you can do so privately or in the space provided.

Step 11

Oswald adds:

"If we really believed that God meant what He said, just imagine what we would be like!"

Take a moment to imagine how you, and your life, would be different if you absolutely, without question, believed all that God has said and promised.

Stay with this, then write down what you see in your imagination. Be specific.

Step 12

Oswald continues:

"Do I really dare to let God be to me all that He says He will be?"

How important to you is it to hold onto the truth that God deeply values and loves you far more than you can imagine?

Step 13

How much has this Trail increased the fruit of love in your current disposition?
